Friend of the Brow and notorious musician Justin Heazlewood – aka The Bedroom Philosopher – has a new book out. It’s called Funemployed, and it’s about life as an artist in Australia. (We’ll be posting a piece about the book up here tomorrow!)
To celebrate the book’s release, we asked Justin to make us a mixtape. It’s below. Here’s what he had to say about it:
This is a mix of songs about being an artist, in the spirit of my new book Funemployed. It’s a blend of gloriously single-minded spoken word pieces and omnipotent, soul inflating mindscapes. There are not many examples of women doing comedic spoken word, now I think about it. I have also included a track from my new Funemployed EP which samples interview quotes from Jen Cloher (music), Jon Pace (film), Tim Spencer (theatre) and Steph Brotchie (comedy) conducted for my book. I am self-promoting.
