There’s a strange new item now on the menu: a brand new issue of The Lifted Brow: Digital is here, and ready for your conspicuous consumption.

Poke your eye-chopsticks into the ‘Worried Ramen edition’ to find: Connor Tomas O’Brien considering the state of Alt Lit in Australia; Susie Anderson going full ocean girl in three poems; Ben Merriman holding hands with strangers; recommendations from TLB’s latest recruits; and a brand new mixtape from David Shrigley!

About our servile contributors:

  • Connor Tomas O’Brien is Director of the Digital Writers’ Festival, designer of Voiceworks magazine, and tweets as @mrconnorobrien
  • Susie Anderson used to be an owl person and now is a whale person.
  • Ben Merriman is a doctoral student at the University of Chicago. His essays and stories have been published widely. Read more at his blog.
  • Francesca Ohlert is a curly haired creative writing and literature student at The University of Melbourne and Deputy Editor of The Suburban Review. She enjoys Kathy Acker, fake plants, and rehearsing rhymes in case one day she’s called into an impromptu rap battle.
  • Toby Newtown is an aspiring writer and keen cyclist from Melbourne. He hates using the third person.
  • Stacey Main is a writer who is constantly surprised, but shouldn’t be, when technology appears in her writing. Find her work in Farrago, Time Out Melbourne and Stilts.
  • David Shrigley is an internationally renowned artist and Turner Prize finalist whose work is held in major public collections including the Tate Gallery, London, and MoMA, New York. The Glasgow-based practitioner has developed a cult following for his stripped back, darkly humourous and deliberately simple drawings that explore existential dramas, human dysfunction and anxiety. His first major survey in Australia, David Shrigley: Life and Life Drawing, opens 14 November at the National Gallery of Victoria.
  • Cover art by Lashna Tuschewski, an artist working in illustration, embroidery, collage, handmade jewellery and ceramics.
